So much for my wish-pick. Good Lord, the Colts defense looked good. Turns out all that pre-season talk about Tarik Glenn was, well, just blah, blah, blah. DB Bob Sanders was everywhere (Did you SEE those
arms?!). Manning is just amazing. It's like watching one of your friends play Madden on "rookie" level for years. It almost feels like cheating: He's seen so many possible permutations of route and defense and play that it's just not even a challenge anymore. Plus there are Harrison and Wayne. (And yes, my first game was against the guy who snaked Wayne from me one pick ahead at the draft. Wah, wah.)
The Colts D was just fired up and, while I get that it was first game, home field, returning champs, etc., they didn't look like a team running on emotion. They looked like a team kicking ass and taking names. Yikes. The number of solo tackles was ... a LOT. They just didn't let guys escape. My darling Reggie B was boxed up and shelved like old bank papers, making me down in Reggie Bowl, 18 to 1. EIGHTFREAKIN"TEEN points from the guy. Did I mention he was on my team last year? My Go-to-the-Monkey-Bowl team? I did? Oh, OK. Sorry.
So Dan was wanting me to be bold and make predictions on who would win divisions, championships and super bowls yesterday. I said I wanted to research a little more, as in maybe actually WATCH some teams play first. He gave me that "you're such a girl" look. Well, yeah, I am. So what?! I'll predict when I'm ready. Clearly, judging from my record so far, I ain't now.
