In the spirit of the discovery of that frozen lake on Mars, I present Abundance, a sci-fi short that I wrote in the spring of 2004. I'm quite fond of it: a solid sci-fi premise based on an emerging scientific concept; unusual characters and a non-traditional sci-fi setting. The fact that it was immediately rejected by Asimov's, Analog, Fantasy and Science Fiction and the Sci-Fi Channel website doesn't change that. A couple of writers I greatly admire liked it, and that works for me.

I don't read much (really any) science fiction, but I liked it. Kept me interested and made me chuckle a few times. I've sort of blow off fiction for a while -- you remember the MFA debacle, perhaps -- but I've got some ideas I may try.
Again, enjoyed it. But one part was really disturbing: Could we have another administration so like the current one elected in the future?
