Yes, the 115-year-old Amish and Mennonite newspaper The Budget (circulation 20,000) has established an online test site, The Budget Newspaper Online. And no, none of the links work yet. It's just an experiment so far (there's a great article on it by Cleveland Plain Dealer columnist Tom Feran... easy registration required).
But here's what I think it means: Being in online media today is now like running in the same 10K with Oprah and some guy in a Klingon costume.
Because no matter how slow and out of shape you are, the knowledge that you're in a race that you could conceivably lose to Oprah and a Klingon is motivation enough to make you run faster. Or it should be.
So all you mainstream media types who still pooh-pooh the Internet and cop attitudes about the blogosphere, listen up: THE AMISH ARE GAINING ON YOU.
"Step on it, Yoder!"

The Amish are coming! The Amish are coming! Run for your lives, the Amish are coming!

I am a dainishman born and raised in Idaho
