OK, so a quick update from the one computer available (but for free!) at The Biltmore Hotel in Greensboro, which is a very cool place:
We got our Charleston asses quite lost on the way up here, which is really saying something considering that I used to drive a cab here. Greensboro's downtown looks great. You really ought to give it a look if you haven't been here in a while.
We missed the morning sessions but caught the two after that. Ran into some people we knew (Dave Winer, Kirk Ross, Phil Meyer) and also some people I knew by phone, e-mail, blog comments, etc. (Dave Slusher, Jay Rosen, Ed Cone, Lex Alexander).
My favorite comment, so far, came from Slusher, who compared trust in the blogsphere as being like karma.
BIGGEST MOMENT SO FAR: While bopping around with coffee, me and J are standing out in front of the Rhino across from the old Carolina Theater (where they used to show kung fu movies in the 1970s), and we're talking about the cool architectural details and I ask this tall guy standing by us on the street if he remembered when it was fixed up. We get to talking... and its Gene Banks, the former Duke basketball star. He's just started up a sports magazine. Shook his hand and everything.
Meeting Jay Rosen? Cool. But meeting Gene Banks on the street? Priceless.
The geek news site Slashdot actually refers to a persons collection of moderator ratings as "karma".
